About the project

Continuing the strategy of integration with the landscape, Rio do Prado II is developed from the concept nature as creator. The intervention is dispersed within the forest, avoiding any form of centrality or formal prominence, and adopting territorial integration as the guiding principle of its layout.

The new accommodation modules are defined by a horizontal composition structured by large timber pergolas that extend over the terrain. These planes operate as devices for solar control and spatial mediation, filtering daylight and organising shaded areas in continuity with the tree canopy.

Materiality results from the combination of concrete, stone, glass and timber. Green roofs reduce the visual presence of the construction, rendering the volumes almost imperceptible in aerial views and dissolving the boundary between the built form and the natural ground.

The ensemble includes a singular element: a building of pure circular geometry, closed in on itself and organising a planted central courtyard. This volume functions as a place of pause and contemplation, where architecture plays a secondary role, framing the void and giving structure to the presence of nature.
