Long bio

Jorge Sousa Santos is a portuguese architect who has had his own studio in Lisbon, Sousasantos Arquitectos. With a practice that crosses the fields of design, research and critical thinking, Sousa Santos has consolidated a unique path in the contemporary architectural panorama.

From an early age, he showed an interest in how built space shapes human experience and how architecture can serve as a bridge between culture, landscape and technology. His approach is characterised by constant attention to the physical, social and historical context and by a language that oscillates between formal purification and the poetics of construction.

Projects such as the Y House in Óbidos reveal a constant restlessness in testing the limits of architectural design, transforming each work into an exercise in reflection on perception, use and everyday life. His intervention in the Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro Secondary School shows his ability to operate on different scales and programmes, always with a deep awareness of the social responsibility of architecture.

Over the years, Jorge Sousa Santos has combined his professional practice with participation in exhibitions and publications, where he shares his thoughts on the discipline. His work is recognised for its conceptual clarity, technical rigour and the way he always seeks to generate meaning through space.
