About the project

Invited competition for the rehabilitation and extension of the Villa Flores Resort, in Carvoeiro, Algarve. The intervention unfolds across a set of buildings distributed throughout the property — villas, apartments and a restaurant — taking this fragmented condition as the basis for the design approach.

The proposal adopts a restrained architectural language, avoiding dominant formal gestures. The intervention seeks to integrate with the landscape and with the character of the existing Villa Flores, using simple materials and non-imposing forms.

Water acts as the primary connective element between the different buildings. It operates as a continuous spatial and visual system, structuring movement and exterior spaces, reflecting the landscape and contributing to thermal regulation through air humidification.

Material choices are based on durability and on a relationship with local construction techniques. This approach reinforces the connection between the project and its territory, ensuring a consistent integration over time.
