The work comprises the rehabilitation and extension
of a building originally constructed as a school,
designed by architect Ernesto Korrodi in Caldas da
Rainha, converting it into a single-family residence.
The design focuses on a morphological reworking of
the central staircase of the existing building,
endowing this key element with the spatial intensity
required to engage in dialogue with the other Art
Nouveau–inspired components of the main façade
and the interior structure.
The spatial structure of the building is preserved,
preventing any alteration to the original
configuration of spaces, which are strongly defined
by decorative stereotomies, namely coffered walls
and ceilings.

O projeto consiste na recuperação e ampliação de
um edifício originalmente construído como escola,
da autoria do arquiteto Ernesto Korrodi, em Caldas
da Rainha, reconvertendo-o em habitação
unifamiliar.
A intervenção centra-se numa reformulação
morfológica da escadaria central do edifício
existente, atribuindo-lhe a intensidade espacial
necessária para que este elemento estruturante
dialogue com os restantes componentes de
inspiração Art Nouveau da fachada principal e da
organização interior.
A estrutura espacial do edifício é mantida, evitando
qualquer adulteração da configuração original dos
espaços, fortemente definidos por estereotomias
decorativas, nomeadamente caixotões em paredes e
tetos.
