About the project

The hotel is fragmented into a sequence of low volumes, positioned to follow the terrain and preserve the presence of the surrounding landscape.

Clad in cryptomeria timber, the new volumes accommodate the rooms and communal spaces through a succession of courtyards, covered terraces and verandas, establishing a continuous relationship between inside and outside.

The existing ruin is restored and incorporated into the ensemble as a memory of the site's previous occupation. The project understands it as part of a palimpsest: an earlier inscription over which a new layer is added without erasing what came before.

Cryptomeria timber, the stone of the ruin and the surrounding vegetation bring together different times and materials.

The architecture is shaped by its relationship with the landscape. Openings frame the pine trees and views across the territory, making them defining elements of the interior spaces and of the experience of the hotel.
