O projecto parte dos limites de uma construção existente, assumidos como regra para a transformação da casa. As paredes exteriores são preservadas sempre que possível e uma nova cobertura de duas águas recompõe o volume, reinterpretando uma geometria elementar associada à construção rural.
Paredes e cobertura recebem o mesmo acabamento ocre. A distinção entre fachada e telhado desaparece e a casa transforma-se num corpo contínuo, quase monolítico, cuja materialidade aproxima a construção das tonalidades da paisagem.
No interior, esta condição compacta é contrariada por um grande espaço central onde sala, cozinha e zona de refeições se sucedem sem compartimentação. Grandes planos de vidro prolongam este espaço para o jardim, fazendo da paisagem uma extensão da área de vivência.
A altura da cobertura é ocupada parcialmente por um segundo nível. Um escritório suspenso sobre o espaço central prolonga-se para um terraço exterior, introduzindo uma relação vertical no interior de uma casa essencialmente térrea.
A intervenção procura assim reconstruir a casa a partir do que já existe: a mesma implantação, uma nova geometria, uma única matéria.

The project starts from the boundaries of an existing building, using them as the rule for the transformation of the house. The external walls are retained wherever possible, while a new pitched roof reconstructs the volume, reinterpreting an elementary geometry associated with rural buildings.
Walls and roof share the same ochre finish. The distinction between façade and roof disappears, transforming the house into a continuous, almost monolithic body whose materiality draws from the colours of the surrounding landscape.
Inside, this compact condition is contrasted by a large central space where living room, kitchen and dining area unfold without partitions. Large glazed planes extend this space towards the garden, bringing the landscape into the domestic interior.
The height of the pitched roof is partially occupied by a second level. A study overlooking the central space extends onto an exterior terrace, introducing a vertical relationship within an essentially single-storey house.
The intervention reconstructs the house from what is already there: the same footprint, a new geometry, a single material.
